15 U.S.C. § 273a — Under Secretary of Commerce for Standards and Technology

(a) Establishment. The Department of Commerce has an Under Secretary of Commerce for Standards and Technology, called the "Under Secretary" in this section. (b) Appointment. The President appoints the Under Secretary, with the advice and consent of the Senate. (c) Compensation. The Under Secretary is paid at the rate set for Level III of the Executive Schedule under section 5314 of title 5. (d) Duties. The Under Secretary also serves as the Director of the Institute, and must perform whatever duties the Secretary or the law requires of the Director under this chapter. (e) Applicability. Whoever was already serving as Director of the Institute on January 4, 2011, also served as Under Secretary until a successor was appointed under subsection (b).
