15 U.S.C. § 9596 — Separability

If a court invalidates one chapter provision or its application, the ruling does not invalidate other provisions or applications and applies only to the matter directly involved.
If a competent court holds a chapter provision, or its application to a person or circumstance, invalid, the judgment (1) does not affect, impair, or invalidate (A) another chapter provision or (B) the chapter's application to another person or circumstance; and (2) operates only on (A) the provision involved in the judgment or (B) its application to each person or circumstance directly involved in the dispute.
If a provision of this chapter, or the application of a provision of this chapter to any person or circumstance, is held by a court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, that judgment—
shall not affect, impair, or invalidate—
any other provision of this chapter; or
the application of this chapter to any other person or circumstance; and
shall be confined in its operation to—
the provision of this chapter with respect to which the judgment is rendered; or
the application of the provision of this chapter to each person or circumstance directly involved in the controversy in which the judgment is rendered.
