16 U.S.C. § 161d — Elimination of fish hatchery; transfer of administration of hatchery to Fish and Wildlife Service

This section removes a fish hatchery from the park and changes who runs it. The property is located at Creston, Montana. The United States originally acquired it, under section 161c of this title, to establish a fish hatchery for restocking the waters of Glacier National Park, and the property had been administered as part of the park. This section eliminates that property from the park, along with the hatchery's improvements and equipment. The National Park Service's functions in administering these properties, for the park's benefit, are transferred. From now on, the Fish and Wildlife Service exercises those functions instead, for the same purposes. There's a proviso about leftover fish: fish propagated at the hatchery, in excess of the number needed to restock and maintain an optimum fish population in the park's waters at all times, may be used to restock other waters — not just the park's.
