16 U.S.C. § 231c — Administration, protection, and development

This section says who runs the park described in this part of the law — the Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve, and specifically its Chalmette Unit. The National Park Service does the work of running it. That means the National Park Service handles day-to-day administration, protects the park's land and resources, and develops the park — building facilities, trails, and other improvements needed to operate it. The Secretary of the Interior is in charge of the National Park Service, so the Secretary directs how the Park Service runs this park. The Park Service must do this work under the rules set out in the Act of August 25, 1916. That is the law that first created the National Park Service. It sets the general rules for how the Park Service manages all national parks, so this park is not run by special rules of its own — it follows the same framework as every other unit of the National Park System.
