The Secretary of the Interior may accept land donated inside Hot Springs, Arkansas. The Secretary decides if the land's ownership papers are good enough. Once accepted, the land becomes part of Hot Springs National Park. All park rules then apply to it.
This section lets the Secretary of the Interior accept gifts of land in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
The Secretary may accept, on behalf of the United States, donated land or land rights located within the city limits of Hot Springs, Arkansas. This is the Secretary's choice, not a requirement — the law says the Secretary is "authorized, in his discretion" to accept these gifts.
Before accepting, the Secretary must be satisfied that the title (the legal proof of ownership) to the land is good.
Once the government accepts the land, it automatically becomes part of Hot Springs National Park. From that point on, every law and regulation that applies to the park also applies to this new land.
The Secretary of the Interior is authorized, in his discretion, to accept on behalf of the United States donations of lands or interests in land within the city limits of Hot Springs, Arkansas, the title to such lands or interests in land to be satisfactory to said Secretary. Upon the acquisition of such lands or interests in land, they shall become a part of the Hot Springs National Park and shall be subject to all laws and regulations applicable thereto.
