16 U.S.C. § 407cc — Acquisition of site for and operation of Center

This section explains how the government gets a site for the Center and funds it. (a) Providing site. Working through the General Services Administration, the Secretary is authorized to provide a site for the Center, in exchange for adequate reimbursement. This can be done by using or modifying an existing structure, or by constructing a new one. The Secretary may acquire land needed for the site. (b) Provision of funds to Center. The Secretary can give grants to, and enter into cooperative agreements, contracts, or leases with, the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia, which runs the Center. But federal funds appropriated for this purpose can only go to the National Constitution Center if the Center matches them with money from nonfederal sources.
