The National Park Service, under the Secretary of the Interior, runs Independence National Historical Park. It must follow the 1916 law creating the National Park Service and the 1935 Historic Sites Act, as later amended.

The Secretary of the Interior directs the park's administration, protection, and development, carried out by the National Park Service. This must follow the Act of August 25, 1916 (which created the National Park Service) as amended and supplemented, and the Historic Sites Act of August 21, 1935.
The administration, protection, and development of the park shall be exercised under the direction of the Secretary of the Interior by the National Park Service, subject to the provisions of the Act of August 25, 1916 (39 Stat. 535; 16 U.S.C. 1–4),1 as amended and supplemented, and the Historic Sites Act of August 21, 1935 (49 Stat. 666; 16 U.S.C. 461–467).1
