16 U.S.C. § 410fff–10 — Authorization of appropriations

Congress authorizes spending whatever sums are necessary to carry out this subchapter, which covers the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, the Black Canyon of the Gunnison Wilderness, and the Gunnison Gorge National Conservation Area. This is an authorization of appropriations: it gives Congress legal permission to fund these purposes in a future spending bill, but it does not provide the money itself. The section sets no dollar limit — it leaves the exact amount to be decided later, based on what is "necessary" to establish, manage, and protect these areas under the other provisions of this subchapter, such as land acquisition, boundary surveys, and wilderness administration. Actual funding still depends on Congress passing a separate appropriations law each year.
