16 U.S.C. § 410gggg — Homestead National Historical Park; establishment

The Secretary of the Interior must acquire, on the United States' behalf, by gift, purchase, or condemnation, a specific tract of land in Gage County, Nebraska — described here by its exact survey coordinates (the south half of the northwest quarter, the northeast quarter of the northwest quarter, and the southwest quarter of the northeast quarter, section 26, township 4 north, range 5 east, of the sixth principal meridian). This is the same land that was the first homestead claim filed under the General Homestead Act of May 20, 1862, by a settler named Daniel Freeman. Once the Secretary acquires this land, it must be named and designated the "Homestead National Historical Park."
