16 U.S.C. § 410mmm — Thomas Edison National Historical Park, New Jersey

(a) Purposes — This section has two purposes: to honor Thomas Alva Edison and his inventions, and to preserve, protect, restore, and improve the Edison National Historic Site, so the public can keep using and enjoying it as an educational, scientific, and cultural center. (b) Establishment (1) In general — This creates the Thomas Edison National Historical Park (called "the Historical Park") as a unit of the National Park System. (2) Boundaries — The Historical Park includes all property the United States already owned as part of the Edison National Historic Site, plus all property the Secretary of the Interior (called "the Secretary") was authorized to acquire for that site before March 30, 2009. The boundaries generally follow the map titled "Thomas Edison National Historical Park," numbered 403/80,000 and dated April 2008. (3) Map — That map is kept on file at National Park Service offices for public viewing. (c) Administration (1) In general — The Secretary manages the Historical Park under this section and under the laws generally applicable to National Park System units, including the 1916 Act creating the National Park Service and the 1935 historic-sites Act. (2) Acquisition of property — For real property, the Secretary may acquire land or land interests within the boundaries, but only from willing sellers, and only by donation, purchase with donated or government money, or exchange. For personal property, the Secretary may acquire items connected to, and useful for, interpreting the Historical Park. (3) Cooperative agreements — The Secretary may consult with, and enter agreements with, interested organizations and individuals, to help preserve, develop, interpret, and make use of the Historical Park. (4) This paragraph was omitted from the published code — it covered a matter that has already been carried out and no longer appears in the current law. (5) References — Anywhere a law, map, regulation, document, paper, or other federal record refers to the "Edison National Historic Site," that reference now means the "Thomas Edison National Historical Park." (d) Authorization of appropriations — Congress authorizes whatever money is necessary to carry out this section.
