16 U.S.C. § 429b–4 — Funds from Land and Water Conservation Fund

(a) Maximum amount usable for acquisition of property This subsection sets a spending cap. On top of any money already spent buying property for the park, no more than $8,700,000 total from the Land and Water Conservation Fund (set up under the Land and Water Conservation Fund Act of 1965) may be spent to acquire property and property interests under sections 429b through 429b–5. (b) Completion of acquisition in two years Congress's clear intent is that the Secretary finish acquiring property under sections 429b through 429b–5 within two full fiscal years after October 13, 1980. The one exception is property covered by section 429b–1(b) — the properties homeowners have a right to keep living in — which don't have to be acquired on this two-year schedule.
