16 U.S.C. § 429b–5 — Funding limitations; contracting authority, etc.

(a) Effective date of authorizations This subsection sets a start date. Authorizations to appropriate money under sections 429b through 429b–5 from the Land and Water Conservation Fund, for buying properties and interests, become effective on October 1, 1981. (b) Authority limited by appropriations This subsection limits spending power. No matter what else sections 429b through 429b–5 say, the authority to sign contracts, take on financial obligations, or make payments under those sections only exists to the extent, and in the amounts, that Congress has already approved in appropriations laws.
