16 U.S.C. § 450ff — Fort Vancouver National Historic Site; establishment

For the purpose of establishing a federal area of national historical importance for the benefit of the American people -- to be known as the "Fort Vancouver National Historic Site" -- the Administrator of General Services and the Secretary of the Army are authorized to transfer to the Secretary of the Interior, without any exchange of funds, administrative jurisdiction over federally owned lands and other property, real or personal, under their jurisdiction. This includes the site of the old Hudson's Bay Company stockade in the State of Washington. Only property that the Administrator and the Secretary of the Army find to be surplus to their respective agencies' needs can be transferred this way. The Secretary of the Interior selects which properties to include within the national historic site, with the approval of the Administrator and the Secretary of the Army.
