submitted 72 years ago by Pub. L. 98-398 to r/title-16-CONSERVATION · 118 words · no verdicts yet
Until the Commission finishes its plan, federal agencies doing major work in East Saint Louis or at the Memorial site must consult the Secretary of the Interior and the Commission. They must cooperate and coordinate with the Secretary and Commission's duties. They must also avoid actions the Secretary decides would harm the Memorial.
Pending submission of the Commission’s plan, any Federal entity conducting or supporting significant activities directly affecting East Saint Louis, Illinois, generally and the site specifically referred to in section 450jj–3 of this title shall—
consult with the Secretary of the Interior and the Commission with respect to such activities;
cooperate with the Secretary of the Interior and the Commission in carrying out their duties under sections 450jj to 450jj–9 of this title, and to the maximum extent practicable, coordinate such activities with the carrying out of such duties; and
to the maximum extent practicable, conduct or support such activities in a manner which the Secretary determines will not have an adverse effect on the Memorial.
