The Secretary manages Moosalamoo National Recreation Area under National Forest System rules and the existing management plan, subject to existing rights. This does not change the state's authority over wildlife and fish, or the Secretary's power to manage nearby escarpment and ecological areas.
(a) In general: Subject to rights that existed on December 1, 2006, the Secretary manages Moosalamoo National Recreation Area under: (1) the laws, rules, and regulations that apply to National Forest System units; and (2) the goals, standards, and guidelines set for the Moosalamoo Recreation and Education Management Area under the existing Management Plan.
(b) Fish and wildlife: This subchapter does not change the state's authority over wildlife and fish on public land in the state.
(c) Escarpment and ecological areas: This subchapter does not stop the Secretary from managing the Green Mountain Escarpment Management Area and the Ecological Special Areas, as the Management Plan describes.
Subject to valid rights existing on December 1, 2006, the Secretary shall administer the Moosalamoo National Recreation Area in accordance with—
laws (including rules and regulations) applicable to units of the National Forest System; and
the management direction (including objectives, standards, and guidelines) established for the Moosalamoo Recreation and Education Management Area under the Management Plan.
Nothing in this subchapter affects the jurisdiction of the State with respect to wildlife and fish on the public land located in the State.
Nothing in this subchapter prevents the Secretary from managing the Green Mountain Escarpment Management Area and the Ecological Special Areas, as described in the Management Plan.
