16 U.S.C. § 517a — Payment of awards in condemnation proceedings

This section authorizes the Secretary of Agriculture to pay a condemnation award for land acquired under the Act. The Attorney General must first advise that the proceedings and decree are regular.
In condemnation proceedings for acquiring land under this Act, whether prosecuted before or after this section, if a decree gives title to the land to the United States when the award is paid into the court’s registry, the Secretary of Agriculture may make that payment when the Attorney General advises that the proceedings and the decree are regular.
In condemnation proceedings, heretofore or hereafter prosecuted, for the acquisition of lands under this Act, in which a decree is entered vesting title thereto in the United States upon payment of the award into the registry of the court, the Secretary of Agriculture is authorized to make such payment when advised by the Attorney General that the proceedings and the decree are regular.
