This section states three purposes: helping conserve rhinoceroses and tigers, providing money for conservation programs, and prohibiting certain products made from rhinoceros or tiger substances.
This chapter has these purposes:
(1) To help conserve rhinoceroses and tigers. It does this by supporting conservation programs of countries whose activities directly or indirectly affect rhinoceros or tiger populations, and by supporting the CITES Secretariat. This section does not define "CITES Secretariat."
(2) To provide money for those conservation programs.
(3) To prohibit selling, importing, or exporting products meant for people to eat or use on their bodies if the products contain any substance from any rhinoceros or tiger species, or if they are labeled or advertised as containing such a substance.
The purposes of this chapter are the following:
To assist in the conservation of rhinoceros and tigers by supporting the conservation programs of nations whose activities directly or indirectly affect rhinoceros and tiger populations, and the CITES Secretariat.
To provide financial resources for those programs.
To prohibit the sale, importation, and exportation of products intended for human consumption or application containing, or labeled or advertised as containing, any substance derived from any species of rhinoceros or tiger.
