16 U.S.C. § 5305b — Educational outreach program

Within 180 days after October 30, 1998, the Secretary must create and run a United States educational program for rhinoceros and tiger conservation. It must publish guidelines and information about protection laws, traditional medicines, health risks, alternatives, species status, and conservation reasons.
(a) Within 180 days after October 30, 1998, the Secretary must develop and implement a United States educational outreach program for conserving rhinoceros and tiger species. (b) The Secretary must publish program guidelines in the Federal Register. (c) The program must publish and distribute information about (1) protection laws, especially trade bans on products containing or claiming to contain their parts, (2) traditional medicines containing their parts or products, associated health risks, and available alternatives, and (3) species status and reasons for protection.
Not later than 180 days after October 30, 1998, the Secretary shall develop and implement an educational outreach program in the United States for the conservation of rhinoceros and tiger species.
The Secretary shall publish in the Federal Register guidelines for the program.
Under the program, the Secretary shall publish and disseminate information regarding—
laws protecting rhinoceros and tiger species, in particular laws prohibiting trade in products containing, or labeled or advertised as containing, their parts;
use of traditional medicines that contain parts or products of rhinoceros and tiger species, health risks associated with their use, and available alternatives to the medicines; and
the status of rhinoceros and tiger species and the reasons for protecting the species.
