16 U.S.C. § 7709 — Exclusive economic zone notification

(a) Notification and stowing gear. The master of a commercial fishing vessel^* from a country fishing under the management authority of the North Pacific Fisheries Convention^* must follow this rule if the vessel does not have a vessel-monitoring system that can communicate with United States enforcement authorities. Before entering the exclusive economic zone^* bounded by the Convention Area^*—or as soon as reasonably possible afterward—the master must make sure that all fishing gear on board is stowed below deck, or is removed from the place where it is normally used for fishing and put somewhere it is not readily available for fishing.
