16 U.S.C. § 7807 — Cooperation in carrying out the Convention

(a) Federal and State^* agencies; private institutions and organizations The Secretary^* may cooperate with United States Government agencies, public or private institutions or organizations in the United States or abroad, and, through the Secretary of State, authorized officials of the government of any party to the South Pacific Fishery Resources Convention^*, in carrying out this chapter. (b) Scientific and other programs; facilities and personnel At the Secretary’s request, any Federal agency may cooperate in scientific and other programs and provide facilities and personnel to help the Commission^* perform its duties under the Convention. (c) Sanctioned fishing^* operations and biological experiments Nothing in this chapter or in any State law or regulation prevents the Secretary or the Commission from—(1) conducting or authorizing fishing operations and biological experiments at any time for scientific investigation; or (2) carrying out any other duties required by the Convention. (d) State jurisdiction not affected Nothing in this chapter may be read to reduce or expand any State’s jurisdiction in the United States territorial sea.
