This section criminalizes using threats or force to interrupt, hinder, or prevent authorized surveys of public lands or certain private land claims. The maximum imprisonment is three years.
A person who, by threats or force, interrupts, hinders, or prevents the surveying of public lands or of a private land claim that the United States has confirmed or may confirm commits an offense when the survey is being done by persons authorized to do it under the Director of the Bureau of Land Management’s instructions. The person may be fined under this title, imprisoned for up to 3 years, or both.
Whoever, by threats or force, interrupts, hinders, or prevents the surveying of the public lands, or of any private land claim which has been or may be confirmed by the United States, by the persons authorized to survey the same in conformity with the instructions of the Director of the Bureau of Land Management, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both.
