2 U.S.C. § 5531 — Program to increase employment opportunities in House of Representatives for individuals with disabilities

(a) In general. To increase opportunities for people with disabilities to provide services to the House, the House Chief Administrative Officer may: (1) enter one or more contracts with nongovernmental entities under which people with disabilities employed by or contracted with those entities perform services for House offices; and (2) provide reasonable accommodations, including assistive-technology devices and services, so those people can perform the contracted services. (b) Program elements. When making a contract, the Chief Administrative Officer must seek to ensure that: (1) traditional and nontraditional outreach attracts people with disabilities for education and employment opportunities in the House; (2) the nongovernmental entity provides adequate education and training to improve those opportunities; and (3) efforts educate House employing offices about opportunities to employ people with disabilities. (c) Funding. The law authorizes appropriations of $500,000 from the applicable accounts of the House of Representatives to carry out this section for each fiscal year from 2003 through 2007.
