The Secretary of the Senate may charge 10 cents per 100-word sheet for transcribing and certifying certain Senate journal extracts. No charge applies when a United States officer needs the transcript for official duties.
For transcribing and certifying extracts from the Senate journal or the Senate executive journal after the injunction of secrecy has been removed, the Secretary of the Senate is entitled to receive 10 cents per sheet containing 100 words from the person for whom the transcript is prepared. This charge does not apply when a United States officer requires the transcript for a matter related to the officer’s official duties.
The Secretary of the Senate is entitled, for transcribing and certifying extracts from the journal of the Senate or the executive Journal of the Senate when the injunction of secrecy has been removed, except when such transcripts are required by an officer of the United States in a matter relating to the duties of his office, to receive from the persons for whom such transcripts are prepared the sum of 10 cents for each sheet containing one hundred words.
