21 U.S.C. § 459 — Compliance by all establishments

(a) In general: No establishment covered by this chapter, that processes poultry or poultry products for commerce, may process anything except in compliance with this chapter's requirements. (b) Notification: If a covered establishment believes, or has reason to believe, that an adulterated or misbranded poultry product it received or that came from it has entered commerce, it must promptly notify the Secretary. The notice must cover the type, amount, origin, and destination of the product. (c) Plans and reassessments: The Secretary must require every covered establishment, at minimum, to: (1) prepare and keep current its procedures for recalling all poultry and poultry products it has produced and shipped; (2) document each time it reassesses its process control plans; and (3) make those procedures and reassessed plans available, on request, for Secretary-appointed inspectors to review and copy.
