The Attorney General may conduct hearings and use subpoenas and other evidence-gathering powers, under specified administrative procedures.
(a) To perform subchapter functions, the Attorney General may hold hearings, sign and issue subpoenas, administer oaths, examine witnesses, and receive evidence anywhere in the United States.
(b) Unless this subchapter provides otherwise, notice and hearings follow appropriate procedures under title 5, chapter 5, subchapter II.
In carrying out his functions under this subchapter, the Attorney General may hold hearings, sign and issue subpenas, administer oaths, examine witnesses, and receive evidence at any place in the United States.
Except as otherwise provided in this subchapter, notice shall be given and hearings shall be conducted under appropriate procedures of subchapter II of chapter 5 of title 5.
