The Secretary and Administrator may pay for or reimburse appropriate security services for certain employees and household members, under a required policy.
(a) The Secretary and Administrator may pay for or reimburse appropriate security equipment or services that reduce risks to certain employees or household members arising from or related to official duties or affiliation with the Department or USAID. These may include cameras and services that lower the priority of, or remove, search results showing personally identifying information. (b) Before paying or reimbursing, the Department must adopt a policy that (1) states qualification requirements, (2) names the office that reviews requests, and (3) requires prompt review.
The Secretary and the Administrator are authorized to pay for or reimburse for appropriate security services to mitigate risks to certain employees or members of their households resulting from or related to the employee’s official duties or affiliation with the Department or USAID. These security equipment or services may include security cameras and services to de-prioritize or remove internet search results revealing personally identifiable information.
Prior to paying for or reimbursing services pursuant to subsection (a), the Department shall establish a policy that—
outlines the requirements for qualifying for the payment of or reimbursement of services;
identifies the office responsible for vetting requests for paying for or reimbursing of services; and
mandates expeditious consideration of such requests.
