22 U.S.C. § 289b — Authorization of appropriations; payment of salaries and expenses

Congress is authorized to appropriate money annually to the Department of State for: (a) an amount, not more than $73,325,000 for the fiscal year that began July 1, 1947, needed to pay the United States' contributions to the Organization (in supplies, services, or funds, plus related expenses), figured under Article 10 of the Organization's constitution; and (b) an amount, not more than $175,000 for that same fiscal year, needed to pay (1) the salaries of the representative(s) and alternates described in section 289a of this title, plus their staff, including personal-service pay in the District of Columbia and elsewhere without regard to civil-service laws, and (2) other expenses the Secretary of State considers necessary for U.S. participation in the Organization's activities. The rules of section 287e of this title, and the regulations under it that apply to expenses under subchapter XVI of this chapter, also apply to any expenses incurred under this chapter.
