22 U.S.C. § 8604 — Reports required

(a) Report on Israel's qualitative military edge (QME). (1) In general. Within 180 days after July 27, 2012, the President must send the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and the House Foreign Affairs Committee a report on the state of Israel's qualitative military edge, given current regional trends and instability. (2) Substitution for quadrennial report. If this report is submitted within one year of when the first quadrennial report required by the Naval Vessel Transfer Act of 2008 is due, it may be used instead of that quadrennial report. (b) Reports on other matters. Within 180 days after July 27, 2012, the President must also send the appropriate congressional committees a report on: (1) actions to improve the process for Israel's government to buy F-35 aircraft, given its urgent need for them — particularly around cost efficiency and timely delivery; (2) efforts to expand U.S.-Israel cooperation in homeland security, counter-terrorism, maritime security, energy, cybersecurity, and related areas; and (3) actions to integrate Israel into the defense of the Eastern Mediterranean.
