25 U.S.C. § 1815 — Rules and regulations

The Secretary must consult with national Indian organizations, publish proposed rules, and issue final rules for the grant program within specified periods after October 17, 1978. Administrative appropriations may fund these activities.
(a) Consultation with national Indian organizations. Within four months after October 17, 1978, the Secretary* must, as far as practicable, consult with national Indian organizations about developing appropriate rules and regulations for the grant program established by this subchapter.
(b) Publication. Within six months after October 17, 1978, the Secretary must publish proposed rules and regulations in the Federal Register so interested parties can comment.
(c) Promulgation. Within ten months after October 17, 1978, the Secretary must issue rules and regulations for running the grant program established by this subchapter.
(d) Source of appropriations. Money needed to carry out this section may come from the Secretary's general administrative appropriations made after October 17, 1978.
Within four months from October 17, 1978, the Secretary* shall, to the extent practicable, consult with national Indian organizations to consider and formulate appropriate rules and regulations for the conduct of the grant program established by this subchapter.
Within six months from October 17, 1978, the Secretary shall publish proposed rules and regulations in the Federal Register for the purpose of receiving comments from interested parties.
Within ten months from October 17, 1978, the Secretary shall promulgate rules and regulations for the conduct of the grant program established by this subchapter.
Funds to carry out the purposes of this section may be drawn from general administrative appropriations to the Secretary made after October 17, 1978.
