This law limits how far in advance rent can be paid on leased reservation land. Rent can't be collected more than a year in advance. The lease itself can allow an exception to this rule.
No rent or other consideration for using land leased under sections 416 through 416j of this title may be paid or collected more than one year in advance — unless the lease itself specifically provides for it.
No rent or other consideration for the use of land leased under sections 416 to 416j of this title shall be paid or collected more than one year in advance, unless so provided in the lease.
