25 U.S.C. § 66 — Duties of agency devolved on superintendent of Indian school

This section lets the government combine an Indian agency's duties with a nearby school superintendent's job. The Commissioner of Indian Affairs, with the Secretary of the Interior's approval, may devolve — that is, transfer — the duties of an Indian agency, or part of them, onto the superintendent of the Indian school located at that agency. This is only allowed when, in the Commissioner's judgment, that superintendent can properly perform the agency's duties. If a superintendent takes on agency duties in addition to their regular superintendency work, the Commissioner of Indian Affairs may increase that superintendent's pay, at the Commissioner's discretion, by up to $300 per year.
