28 U.S.C. § 538 — Investigation of aircraft piracy and related violations

This section gives the FBI a specific investigative duty covering two parts of the U.S. Code. The Federal Bureau of Investigation must investigate any violation of section 46314 of title 49 (a provision of the transportation code). It must also investigate any violation of chapter 465 of title 49, which — based on this section's heading — covers aircraft piracy and related violations. This section does not itself define what conduct those provisions prohibit; it only assigns the FBI the job of investigating violations of them.
