30 U.S.C. § 49 — Lands in Missouri and Kansas; disposal as agricultural lands

This law affects mineral rules in Missouri and Kansas. Unless another chapter of this title says otherwise, coal, iron, lead, and other mineral deposits there are exempt from several listed federal mining law sections. Instead, all land in those two states can be sold or given out under the agricultural land rules.
This section applies to Missouri and Kansas. Normally, federal mining laws control how coal, iron, lead, and other mineral deposits on federal land get used and sold. But except where chapter 3A of this title says otherwise, this law removes Missouri and Kansas mineral deposits from a specific list of those mining-law sections (sections 22 to 24, 26 to 28, 29, 30, 33 to 35, 37, 39 to 42, and 47). Instead, all federal land in these two states can be disposed of — sold or granted — under the rules that apply to ordinary agricultural land.
Except as otherwise provided in chapter 3A of this title, within the States of Missouri and Kansas deposits of coal, iron, lead, or other mineral are excluded from the operation of sections 22 to 24, 26 to 28, 29, 30, 33 to 35, 37, 39 to 42, and 47 of this title, and all lands in said States shall be subject to disposal as agricultural lands.
