This part seeks to increase the number of police with advanced education and community-patrol training. It also provides education assistance to law-enforcement personnel and interested public-service students.
The purposes of this part are—
(1) to address violent crime by increasing the number of police who have advanced education and training in community patrol; and
(2) to give educational assistance to law-enforcement personnel and to students who have a sincere interest in public service as law enforcement.
