At the Government’s request, the corporation must study and report on any subject of science or art. The corporation may not be paid for these services, but the Government must pay their actual expenses from an appropriation.
At the request of the United States Government, the corporation must investigate, examine, experiment, and report on any subject of science or art. The corporation may not receive compensation for services to the Government. The Government must pay the actual expenses of the investigation, examination, experimentation, and report from an appropriation for that purpose.
On request of the United States Government, the corporation shall investigate, examine, experiment, and report on any subject of science or art.
