The corporation must follow the laws of the place where it is incorporated when legal papers are served on it. It must also follow the laws of each U.S. state or territory where it carries out activities that further its purposes.
This section covers how the corporation must handle service of process — the formal delivery of legal documents to it. The corporation must follow the laws of the jurisdiction where it is incorporated. It must also follow the laws of any jurisdiction within the United States and its territories where it carries out activities that further its purposes.
With respect to service of process, the corporation shall comply with the laws of—
the jurisdiction under which the corporation is incorporated; and
those jurisdictions within the United States and its territories within which the corporation carries out activities in furtherance of the purposes of the corporation.
