The National Music Council gives member organizations a forum, represents music when a unified opinion is useful, shares information, coordinates efforts, studies important problems, and promotes music and ethical standards in music professions and industries.
The corporation’s purposes are: (1) to give member organizations a forum for freely discussing problems affecting musical life in the country; (2) to speak for music with one voice when an authoritative opinion is desirable; (3) to exchange information among member organizations; (4) to coordinate members’ efforts and thereby avoid duplication or conflict; (5) to organize exploratory surveys or fact-finding commissions whenever the corporation considers them necessary to solve important problems; and (6) to encourage the development and appreciation of music and promote the highest ethical standards in musical professions and industries.
The purposes of the corporation are—
to provide the member organizations with a forum for the free discussion of problems affecting national musical life in this country;
to speak with one voice for music whenever an authoritative expression of opinion is desirable;
to provide for the interchange of information between the various member organizations;
to encourage the coordination of efforts of the member organizations, thereby avoiding duplication or conflict;
to organize exploratory surveys or fact-finding commissions whenever the corporation considers them necessary for the solution of important problems; and
to encourage the development and appreciation of the art of music and to foster the highest ethical standards in the musical professions and industries.
