Working with the Department of the Navy, the corporation aims to help American young people learn basic seamanship and naval applications, develop seagoing skills, and learn patriotism, courage, self-reliance, and related virtues.
Through organization and cooperation with the Department of the Navy, the corporation's purposes are—
(1) to encourage and help American young people develop an interest in and skill at basic seamanship and its naval applications;
(2) to train them in seagoing skills; and
(3) to teach them patriotism, courage, self-reliance, and related virtues.
The purposes of the corporation are, through organization and cooperation with the Department of the Navy—
to encourage and aid American young people to develop an interest and skill in basic seamanship and in its naval adaptations;
to train them in seagoing skills; and
to teach them patriotism, courage, self-reliance, and kindred virtues.
