36 U.S.C. § 20502 — Purposes

This section lists five stated purposes of the corporation: (1) to encourage, as broadly and freely as possible, the advancement of chemistry in all its branches; (2) to promote research in chemical science and industry; (3) to improve chemists' qualifications and usefulness through high standards of professional ethics, education, and achievement; (4) to increase and spread chemical knowledge; and (5) through its meetings, professional contacts, reports, papers, discussions, and publications, to promote scientific interest and inquiry, support public welfare and education, help develop the country's industries, and add to the material prosperity and happiness of the American people.
