This section lists the corporation's official purposes. It acts as a coordinating, research, and education hub for symphony orchestras and helps start new ones. It also honors American musicians, conductors, and composers, and works to grow the nation's musical and cultural life.
The purposes of the corporation are—
to serve as a coordinating, research, and educational agency and clearinghouse for symphony orchestras to help strengthen the work in their local communities;
to assist in the formation of new symphony orchestras;
to encourage and recognize the work of America’s musicians, conductors, and composers, through suitable means; and
to aid the expansion of the musical and cultural life of the United States through suitable educational and service activities.
