This section authorizes the Social Security Commissioner to issue rules and make arrangements needed to administer this subchapter. It also lets the Commissioner set payment timing and installments, reconsider entitlement and benefit amounts, and provide for suspension or termination of benefits.
(a) Regulations and administrative arrangements. The Commissioner of Social Security may issue rules and make administrative or other arrangements that are necessary or appropriate to carry out this subchapter. (b) Payment of benefits. Benefits under this subchapter must be paid at the times and in the installments that the Commissioner decides are in the interests of economy and efficiency. (c) Entitlement redeterminations. The Commissioner may reconsider a person’s entitlement to benefits under this subchapter and the benefit amount at the times the Commissioner considers appropriate. (d) Suspension and termination of benefits. Rules issued under subsection (a) may provide for suspending or ending entitlement to benefits as the Commissioner considers appropriate.
The Commissioner of Social Security may prescribe such regulations, and make such administrative and other arrangements, as may be necessary or appropriate to carry out this subchapter.
Benefits under this subchapter shall be paid at such time or times and in such installments as the Commissioner of Social Security determines are in the interests of economy and efficiency.
An individual’s entitlement to benefits under this subchapter, and the amount of the benefits, may be redetermined at such time or times as the Commissioner of Social Security determines to be appropriate.
Regulations prescribed by the Commissioner of Social Security under subsection (a) may provide for the suspension and termination of entitlement to benefits under this subchapter as the Commissioner determines is appropriate.
