42 U.S.C. § 11842 — Evaluation of drug abuse education and prevention efforts

(a) Method The Secretary^* of Health and Human Services must develop and conduct a structured evaluation of the different approaches used across the Nation to reduce drug^* abuse.
(b) Grants The Secretary of Health and Human Services may make grants to or enter into contracts with appropriate entities to conducting the evaluations required by subsection
(a).
(c) Time of reports The Secretary must submit a report based on the evaluations prepared under subsection
(a) not later than 1 year after November 18, 1988, and another report based on such evaluations not later than 3 years after November 18, 1988. A third report based on such evaluations must be submitted by the Secretary not later than January 1, 1994.
(d) Authorization of appropriations To carry out this section, there are authorized to be appropriated $12,000,000 in fiscal year 1989, and $15,000,000 for each of the fiscal years 1990 through 1993.
