42 U.S.C. § 13438 — Telecommuting study

(a) Study. The Secretary, working with the Secretary of Transportation, had to study the potential costs and benefits of telecommuting for the energy and transportation sectors. The study had to include: (1) an estimate of how much commuting would drop, by transportation type and number of commuters; (2) an estimate of how many lives could be saved; (3) an estimate of the drop in environmental pollution, worked out with the EPA; (4) an estimate of how much energy use would drop, by transportation type; and (5) an estimate of the social impact if telecommuting became widespread. (b) Report to Congress. The study had to be finished within 180 days after October 24, 1992. A report summarizing the results had to go to the House of Representatives and the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources within 60 days after the study was finished.
