42 U.S.C. § 15066 — Authorization of appropriations

(a) Authorization and reservations. (1) Authorization. Congress can appropriate $30,000,000 for fiscal year 2001 (and whatever's needed for 2002-2007) to run this part — except for the electronic-information-sharing work in section 15063(c)(4), which is funded separately. (2) Reservation for training initiatives. After every Center gets at least $500,000 (per section 15062), the Secretary sets aside any leftover money from that year's appropriation for the training initiatives in section 15063(b). (3) Reservation for technical assistance. (A) For "covered years" (defined below), the Secretary reserves funds under section 15083(c) for technical assistance under section 15063(c) — not counting section 15063(c)(4). (B) For other years, the Secretary reserves between $300,000 and 2% of the appropriation for that same technical assistance. (C) A "covered year" is any fiscal year before the first year the appropriation under paragraph (1) reaches at least $20,000,000. (b) Limitation. The Secretary can spend no more than $300,000 of this money on peer review in fiscal year 2001. In later years, the cap is that same amount, adjusted upward for the most recent Consumer Price Index increase.
