The Secretary of the Interior must use one consistent method to assess geology everywhere. This applies to every province, area, and region in national geological assessments. The goal is to make comparisons between regions accurate.
This section is short and has no lettered parts. It tells the Secretary* of the Interior to use the same assessment method in every geological province, area, and region of the country. The Secretary must apply this same, consistent method whenever preparing or issuing a national geological assessment. The reason is to make sure comparisons between different regions' geological resources come out accurate — using different methods in different places would make those comparisons unreliable.
The Secretary* of the Interior shall use the same assessment methodology across all geological provinces, areas, and regions in preparing and issuing national geological assessments to ensure accurate comparisons of geological resources.
