42 U.S.C. § 17123 — Green Building Advisory Committee

(a) Establishment: Within 180 days after December 19, 2007, the Federal Director must work with the Commercial Director to create an advisory group called the "Green Building Advisory Committee." (b) Membership: (1) In general: The Committee must include people from every agency named in section 17081(e), plus other agencies and groups the Federal Director chooses. It must have at least one representative each from: state and local green building programs; independent green building associations or councils; building experts such as architects, material suppliers, and construction contractors; security advisors who focus on national security, natural disasters, and other dire emergencies; public transportation industry experts; and environmental health experts, including people with experience in children's health. (2) Non-federal members: At any given time, no more than 15 of the Committee's members can come from outside the federal government. (c) Meetings: The Federal Director must set up a regular schedule of meetings for the Committee. (d) Duties: The Committee gives advice and expertise to help the Federal Director carry out duties under this part. This includes recommendations about federal activities under sections 434 through 436, but only recommendations that a majority of the Committee's members agree to. (e) Exemption: The Committee does not have to follow section 1013 of title 5, a requirement that would otherwise apply under chapter 10 of title 5.
