42 U.S.C. § 242v–3 — Report on progress to address undue foreign influence

This section requires an annual report on foreign influence enforcement. Within 1 year of December 29, 2022, and every year after, the Secretary must prepare and submit to the Senate health committee and the House energy/commerce committee — without compromising national security — a report on actions taken to: (1) address noncompliance with disclosure rules or research misconduct tied to foreign influence, including: (A) how many potential noncompliance cases NIH investigated or that research institutions reported to NIH, including cases involving undisclosed research support, undisclosed conflicts of interest or commitment, and peer review violations; (B) how many cases were referred to the HHS Inspector General, HHS's Office of National Security, the FBI, or other law enforcement; (C) a description of enforcement actions taken over undue foreign influence; and (D) other relevant information; and (2) prevent, address, and reduce noncompliance with disclosure rules or research misconduct linked to foreign influence.
