42 U.S.C. § 285b–2 — Information and education

The Director must collect, identify, analyze, and quickly share — through publications and other means — information about researching, preventing, diagnosing, and treating heart, blood vessel, lung, and blood diseases, about staying healthy to reduce these diseases, and about using blood and blood products and managing blood resources. This information goes to patients, patients' families, physicians and other health professionals, and the public. In doing this, the Director must especially emphasize working with both public and private partners to: (1) increase health professionals' and the public's awareness and knowledge about preventing heart, blood vessel, lung, and blood diseases, and about using blood resources; and (2) create and share information with health professionals, patients, patients' families, and the public that encourages adults and children to adopt healthy habits that prevent these diseases.
