42 U.S.C. § 295f–2 — Training for mid-career public and allied health professionals

(a) In general The Secretary may give grants to, or contract with, eligible institutions to award scholarships so eligible individuals can enroll in degree or professional training programs, letting mid-career public health and allied health workers get more training in their field. (b) Eligibility (1) Eligible entity: An accredited school offering a course of study, certificate, or professional training program in public or allied health or a related field, as the Secretary decides. (2) Eligible individuals: People already working in public or allied health jobs at the federal, state, tribal, or local level who want to keep up or improve their education. (c) Authorization of appropriations Congress may spend $60,000,000 for fiscal year 2010, and whatever is needed each year from 2011 through 2015. Half of the money must go to public health mid-career professionals, and half to allied health mid-career professionals.
