42 U.S.C. § 300u–4 — Status reports to President and Congress; study of health education and preventive health services with respect to insurance coverage

(a) Starting 2 years after June 23, 1976, and every 2 years after that, the Secretary must send the President a report — for the President to pass to Congress — on the status of health information, health promotion, preventive health services, and education on using health care wisely. Each report must include: (1) a statement of what's been done under this subchapter since the last report, and how well each activity met the subchapter's goals; (2) an assessment of the workforce needed for these programs, and a description of current activities to train teachers and other workers for them; (3) the goals and strategy set under section 300u(a)(1), the models and standards built under this subchapter, and the results of the study required by subsection (b); and (4) any recommendations the Secretary has for legislation on health information, health promotion, preventive health services, and education on using health care wisely — including recommended changes to, or extensions of, this subchapter. (b) The Secretary must study health education and preventive health services to find out how public and private health insurance programs cover them — including how much they cover and what cost-sharing they require.
